IT and OT, what is the security strategy to take

IT is short for Information Technology represented by but not limited to Business Data (ERP), Internet access, Marketing Data, Office solutions

OT is short for Operational Technology represented by but not limited to video surveillance, machinery, SCADA, PLCs…

A clear security strategy tells that OT and IT would not be interconnected, meaning not able to talk from A to B and visa versa. But, in today’s world where we are data-driven around process optimizations in manufacturing this strategy requires a review as in order for data acquisiting in OT and reporting in IT to succeed there should be a DMZ (demilitarized zone) being in play and this to host a data acquisition component being able to talk with the OT devices and sending information to IT solutions.
